Postpartum Support Groups

You Don't Have to Carry This Alone

When postpartum moms come together to share real, honest experiences, the load gets a little lighter—even if just for an hour and a half. Honest conversation, non-judgment, and meaningful support with other moms who truly get it.

A 6-week, therapist-facilitated support group for moms in the first year postpartum.

Next Group Starts June 17th, 2026

“ I appreciated having a space to discuss the realities of postpartum that I was facing, knowing that it would be met with no judgement. It was validating hearing other’s experiences and provided a lot of comfort during such a demanding and sometimes isolating time.”

– PP Support Group Participant (2 months PP)

“Kendra and the other participants helped me find comfort in knowing that I wasn’t alone and that many of my worries and experiences were common among other mamas.”

FAQ

When is the next group?

The next Postpartum Support Group begins June 17th, 2026. Each one is 90 minutes 9:30 – 11:00 am, Wednesday mornings for 6 weeks.

Where is the group located?

This is an in person group in Hampton, NB. Group is located at Kendra Higgs Counselling – 8 Centennial Road, Unit 4.

Who is this group for?

This support group is for moms in the postpartum period. Anyone in the first year postpartum is welcome to join. This group is designed for first time moms but if this is your second (or third!) postpartum experience and you need the support – please join us.

And please note – things don’t need to be “‘really bad” for you to be a part of this group. It is designed to support you in making sense of and processing this very big life change – with others in the same season of life. Whether things feel completely overwhelming or you’re just wanting to connect with others who are postpartum near you – you’re welcome here.

The group is limited to 6 participants to create a cozy, consistent space.

What is this support group going to be like?

This support group is a discussion group designed to provide a supportive space for individuals to talk about their experiences and support one another through listening and non judgement. It is not intended to be an intense therapeutic process group and is not a replacement for individual therapy. Each session will have a topic relevant to the postpartum period and Kendra will have questions to guide discussion. Some topics we’ll cover are:

– Week 1: Getting to know you before baby, birth, pregnancy, etc.

Week 2: Relationships (extended, immediate, with your partner, etc.)

Week 3: Mood & Emotions (PMADS)

Week 4: Identity & Self Exploration / Matresence

Week 5: Relationships with Body & Embodiment

Week 6: Expectations & Exploring Life w/ Baby Moving Forward

You are welcome to share your thoughts or just listen to others’ experiences as we go. There will never be any pressure to talk.

How much does the support group cost?

This group is $270 for 6 weeks ($45 a session). This is the relative cost of two therapy sessions. Half of the full fee ($135) is due up front to secure your spot and can be made via e-transfer or credit. If you have coverage for counselling therapy – your insurance will cover this support group – please check with your provider to confirm. If a lump payment up front is a hindrance, please reach out to Kendra to set up a weekly payment plan.

Can I bring my baby?

Absolutely! Though this space is intended to be supportive of you, it will be set up to support your care for your baby too. Baby can cry, babble, feed, do tummy time and anything else they need while you’re hanging with other moms (who will be tending to their little ones too). I’ll have a change table and feeding area set up if doing either of those with the group doesn’t feel good for you. This is a space for you and your little one to come exactly as you are. Nothing fancy and no unrealistic expectations for you or your babe.

You also don’t have to bring your baby. If you have someone else that can be with your little one while you’re at the group, that’s great too.

Is there an option for an online group?

The June ’26 group will be in person. That said, I’m always looking to support people in the perinatal period in a way that is most useful. If you are postpartum and unable to attend in person but are looking for a support group, I’d love to hear from you. The more individuals who reach out to let me know they’d like to do an online version – the easier it is for me to plan. As soon as there is enough interest for an online group, I’d love to make it a go.

In the meantime, please check out Pospartum Support International’s online support groups. They are an amazing organization dedicated to supporting people in the perinatal period and have SO many useful support groups running throughout the year. Learn more at www.postpartum.net.
